Pernod Ricard is a French company that produces alcoholic beverages and has
grown over the years into a worldwide conglomerate. The company's most
famous products include Pernod, Ricard, Jacob’s Creek and Jameson’s Whisky.
In the international spirits market, the Group is the number one operator in
Continental Europe, Ireland, Central and South America and is the second
largest operator in Asia Pacific and North America.
Each year Pernod Ricard sells more than 54 million cases of spirits, 20m cases
of wine and 8m cases of ready to drink beverages.
In October 2006 Pernod Ricard reviewed their telecoms expenditure and
infrastructure and subsequently issued a request for Tender. After the Tender
process Uniworld was selected to initially provide them with calls and lines.
The international offices, particularly those in the UK, France (where the head
quarters are based) and Australia, interact regularly and this was causing high
levels of expenditure on flights.
As an international conglomerate the company was also keenly aware of the
need to reduce its environmental impact and wanted to cut the number of
flights its staff needed to take.
Uniworld now provides more than 32 lines encompassing single and multi
analogue lines as well as ISDN digital cabling to carry voice, internet, data and
video conferencing traffic.
Pernod Ricard also direct their call traffic via Uniworld.
The company makes numerous international IDSN data calls and the majority
of their telecoms expenditure is on video and audio conferencing calls
involving the French, UK and Australian offices.
The ability of Uniworld to offer a range of solutions with green benefits is
important. The parent company of Uniworld and the network operator, is
committed to offering the ‘greenest’ calls within the UK and to reducing its
CO2 emissions by 30% over the next 12 months.
By using Uniworld for their core telecoms requirements Pernod Ricard has
reduced their net telecoms costs by 20%.
The ability to carry out video and audio conferencing calls over an efficient
and robust connection has meant that the company has been able to
significantly reduce the number of flights its staff need to take. This has led to
financial savings and importantly has helped the company to reduce its
environmental impact and carbon footprint.
Andrew Smith is a member of the Management Team at Pernod Ricard with
responsibility for managing the telecoms infrastructure of the business.
Andrew said "Since using Uniworld we have benefitted from reduced telecoms
and travel costs. We have also been able to cut our carbon emissions which is
a very important objective for us especially with our global footprint. We also
benefit from the fact that when we call Uniworld we always speak to a person
and never get answered by a machine".
